OVERVIEW
Vecteng has been involved in the renewable energy industry for over 10 years, through the development and financing of RustMo1 Solar Farm a 7 MW solar PV power plant in North-West Province, South Africa. RE-IPPPP has allowed for private sector investment in diversifying the energy mix, through renewable energy generation sources (predominantly solar PV & wind) and battery energy storage systems – BESS (BESS-IPPPP), to meet the country’s electricity generation and storage demand. The energy generation demand is expected to double, requiring a need for expansion in the installed generation capacity to between 133 and 174 GW by 2050.
Utility scale energy consumers such as mines and other large industrial enterprises have also adopted the government’s initiative of diversifying the energy mix. Vecteng can assist these Clients for procuring renewable energy through either the IPP model – Vecteng finances, builds, owns and operates the plant and electricity is sold to the Client at a tariff (usually R/kWh) or through the EPC & O&M Model, where the project is financed by the Client and Vecteng executes the EPC & O&M scope of the project.
