Purpose: Designed to excavate ballast under the track skeleton without removing the track itself.
Excavation Mechanism: Uses an excavation chain to dig out ballast, which is then screened by a vibrating screen.
Ballast Handling:
Dirt Conveyance: Dirt is moved to the sides of the railway or back to the material conveyor truck.
Clean Ballast: Clean ballast is either backfilled directly into the railway median or into the ballast bed on both sides of the track using a backfilling conveyor belt.
Reduced Tamping Work: Even backfilling of ballast reduces the amount of track tamping required.
Slurry Pumping: Capable of performing complete cleaning of ballast in sections subject to slurry pumping
